About Certification
What Is KC Certification (Hygiene & Safety)?
KC Certification (Hygiene & Safety) is a legally required scheme under Article 14(1) of the Waterworks Act for waterworks materials and products that contact water in water facilities (excluding intake, storage, and conveyance facilities).

- Product grade / designation
- Manufacturing & inspection equipment list
- Business registration certificate
- Product design drawings and water-contact ratio calculation basis
- List of procedures (materials, process, product quality, manufacturing equipment, and inspection equipment control)
Audit Process
Factory Audit
Two auditors from Korea Water Technology Certification (KWTC) score each factory-audit item as high, middle, or low.
A total of 80 points or more out of 100 is a factory-audit pass. Knowing scoring criteria in advance directly improves pass rates.
Product Audit (Leaching Test)
After the factory pass, an accredited lab performs leaching tests per the official hygiene & safety test methods for waterworks materials and products. Final certification requires results that meet the criteria.
